Hey. It’s an update on getting my life sorted out! I’ve been pretty much on edge for the past month among everything that’s been going on. Waiting for people to call back, driving a lot, buying and wearing nice clothes, stuff like that.

1. I graduated.
2. I got a job. (starts Feb. 20!)
3. I’m taking my girlfriend and leaving my hometown of 19 years to head to a smaller city.
4. We applied for an apartment and bought some furniture.
5. Then my car died. (engine’s kaput, unfixable unless I have $1000-$5000 sitting around) So I have to buy a new one.

6. Got the cat checked out before we leave. Gus is coming with us! I’d be lonely without him.
— Feb. 10 —
7. I bought a car today. A very basic apple-green Hyundai Accent. I love the color. I’m such a girl. o.O
8. Round one of teary goodbyes happened last night. Less than a week to go now.

Numbering these things was a dumb idea in the first place. XD We collected some boxes, got the car a stereo and insurance, shopped for kitchen stuff and foods. Special gluten-free foods are required for my girlfriend, and we made sure to get a lot of it. We don’t know how available this stuff is going to be at the new place.

Apartment is confirmed! I’m closing my bank account. There’s nothing in there anyway.

Happy Make Your Girlfriend Fat Day/Make Single People Feel Lonely Day. Electricity, internet, phone and cable service are all on track for the new place. We seriously started packing things today and secured a trailer rental. The walls are bare!

I’m almost done packing, but mostly I just tied up loose ends with friends. Said goodbye to the people at UTA for the last time, used my free drink card at the coffee shop, and drove out to Roanoke to end the day.

Today, the 18th, it’s my birthday! I pretty much forgot about it. pr0 said “its hard to move… trust me,” and gah. Truer words have never been decapitalized. This job better last me a while, because I like San Angelo, and getting here was a trying experience that I never want to repeat. =P

The 16th was loading a huge trailer and a truck and my tiny car, the 17th driving to San Angelo and unloading it all, and the 18th so far has been spent tidying up a bit and buying more essentials. I slept on the floor last night and had a weird dream about finding the secret ending to Donkey Kong. In it, Miyamoto rode a flaming earth and pumped his fists in the air threateningly. I don’t know what it means, except that I’ve been way overworked. I hoped to find a copy of Wario Ware and play that the rest of the day, but it didn’t happen. There are some pics of stuff on my flickr, from before and after the move. Check em.

Things are getting better though. I miss everyone from back home sorely (to fake-namedrop: zaku and monkey and luxie, please visit ;.;), but the interweb and stuff makes it easier. Gus (the cat) is having a hard time adjusting, but he’ll get used to it eventually (and he couldn’t really live without us).

There is an awesome coffee house down the street we’re going to check out tomorrow morning, and a bottle of champagne in fridge that I’m about to check out now. Next update will be a real one, okay?

My poor blog feels so very low on HP though! Neglected and such. We’ll see what the future holds when I get settled. I’m still having inspiring videogame experiences, so hope is not lost.

Currently:
listening to Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine, which is probably the best piano-playing female singer/songwriter album you have not heard.
playing Sly 2 and I’m on the last chapter; I swear I’m beating it this time. (also i’ve been playing a lot of F-Zero GX, which is surprisingly addictive.)
reading TGQ #7.
eating a BLT made from a waffle.
