I got to watch the first episode of FLCL today, after fiddling with codecs and subtitles a lot. (what can i say, i have to watch things in japanese with english subtitles) It’s certainly one of the coolest things I’ve watched. I see why so many people revere it. It feels like it could/should be life-changing. And I’ve only watched ep. 1. I was prepared for the undertones and the ‘hidden’ meanings of things that I’d heard of ahead of time, but once I got into it, these things were not really all that hidden. Subtle, yeah, but not invisible. It captures the feeling of adolescence really well, and says things in a way that you shouldn’t say them, and does it well.

By only a small coincidence, I’m driving to Dallas tomorrow to see about buying a Vespa. I’ll probably not actually buy one, but I intend to ask a lot of questions since I’m getting one in the near future. If you ask me why I’m getting one, I’ll just tell you that I hate cars. =P
